Minches We’re Married!!!
Dear
Folks:
It
is now almost 9 o’clock and I think John has all his wants
satisfied for a few minutes so I’ll write - - just here
another
request came. Well this is married life I suppose.
How
I wish you could have been here. We spoke of you. I can
scarcely
realize that our wedding day is past. A beautiful day and a
beautiful time. You perhaps wished we might have had a nice
wedding
like you could have given us - well in many ways it was not so
nice
as we could have had at home but really you’d be surprised to
know
what a beautiful time we had. We were six - or a triple
wedding. All in white. boys & all. John has had quite a
siege of fever
and has been in bed most of the time but they took him down on
the ox
sled and carried him in. Then I walked in with Mr. Hurlburt
and J &
I sat during the simple impressive meeting. I shall not give
you any
descriptions tonight but will hurry & mail this & tell
you
all about it in the next. A mail leaves the 9th
& by
putting an extra stamp on ‘twill go thro’ hence just a note.
We
were married at high noon. Rev. Hurlburt, Downing & Knapp
officiating.
Took
quite a lot of pictures which we can’t develop until we get up
to
L. because the stuff is all packed. We had intended leaving
today
but couldn’t because J. was not well enough. Had to send the
goods
on however and will follow in another week.
Rhoads
leave in the morning but went down to the station to camp for
tonight. Evans’s live in a little house that a Mr. Judd built
and
Scouten lived in for some time. Just a little distance around
the
hill. We are occupying the corner room. Miss R’s & my
room. It’s so quiet here J can rest much better. His fever
came up a
little after the excitement but he seems quite well. I’ve been
so
very rushed these last few days that I’m most ready to drop by
night. Mr. Evans helpt me pack the goods which takes quite a
while
when you dare make only 60 lb. loads. Then J. needed
considerable
attention and the girls did not feel like going ahead with the
decorating and we did much of it ourselves so you can see how
busy I
was kept. But it’s all over with. Our main decorations were
Maiden hair ferns & candituft and sweet elyssum. Also
roses
carnations dahlias cosmos & pansies. I’ll give you a full
description next time. Got Lora’s letter in which we expected
Cave
descriptions but space did not permit so expect it next time.
Also
Als good letter. But I am so sleepy and tired I can’t write
more. J is asleep. He will get strong fast now. as the fever
is breaking. Will tell all in next. Wonder if you are thinking
about us today. I
suppose so. It would have been so nice to have you all here.
Goodnight your loving
Florence
Priscilla Minch Stauffacher etc (over)
May
9th - 6 o’clock in the morning. J. slept well last
night for the first time in a week or more. Feels very well
this
morn. Says he will get up tomorrow morning. Am taking his
temp.
now. Little over 101.
Lovingly Floss
