Mengo
Uganda June 27th 1910
My
dearest Florence
Just
ready to start. I am in fine shape again as well as I can be,
also
as happy as I can be everything seems very favorable. Mr Moses
treated us fine so we are in shape to start. I will write you
later
all about Mengo. Mr Moses told me that Freddie’s sister is
living
here and wants very much to go to school but would have to
work for
her board. I saw her she is about Agnes’s age and seems to be
a
nice girl. He wants me to take her to Kijabe when I come back
and
would like her to have work at Kijabe or find a place for her
some
where else. She wants no pay but will do any kind of work.
Talk it
over with the people at Kijabe. She is old enough to do the
work
Miss Thorne is doing now. If she stays here she will likely go
to
the dogs as she has no place to stay. Write Mr Moses if you
think I
dare to bring her along. I almost think to save the girl you
and I
could use her in place of a house boy. Think it over. Mr Moses
has
been exceedingly kind and I would like to do something for
him. Instead of Nakaserso address Nakasero. Nakaserso will
reach Mr.
Moses but Nakasero is correct. Bye bye you hear from me soon
again
Your
John
