(to back)[from back of book] Dec. 31, 1946 – And instead of Cl & Gl being back in Congo with me, [arrow drawn to previous yr. “Do hope Cls will be back a yr from now …”] I am here (Russellville) with them. and we do have such nice times together. but I keep feeling sad & I know they feel it too that affairs with the Mission have not yet cleared up. Sometimes I think I must write the Office - then again I feel the Lord would just have me let hands off. O that we may have the patience He wants us to have and not run ahead of His plans for us.It is within 2 hrs. of midnight which will close this diary. It contains the doings of our family, and no other 5 years has had more joy and deeper sorrow than these 5. The first years of my Africa life had joys such as few missionaries experience these days. Wedding, first baby, first furlo, first home etc. etc. The Lord’s goodness all the way. This book tells of Cl’s wedding - one of the happiest times since our own - except Rays arrival on the field. Then our 2 yrs. of happy life at Rw. and Billys coming. Then the saddest time where the Lord took Dad & left me. But His grace was sufficient and will ever be. Ray’s return to the Field - was such a happy occasion. Meeting Gl & Billy & we learning to know our little Mary Ann.Then Cl’s furlo with all its misunderstanding and heart aches, that have drawn us nearer to one another & to Him who doeth all things well. He has been so faithful all thro the years. 40 spent in Africa - & now bringing me home & letting me have this happy time with Cls here at Mother Taylors. and I’m trusting Him to work it all out for us. I’m sure He would have these 2 efficient workers in His work where they are so well fitted for service. We want to “wait on the Lord” & trust only in Him. We need His patience and His love. He knows - He sees, He cares & He loves.Daily Light for tonight! I Cor. 2: 9, 10. and the many, many encouraging promises from His word. My daily almost hourly prayer is - May we not fail Him. for as we look into 1947 we know He will not fail us![noted in back of book]Altitude at:garage 4600 J.W.
