WHAT IS THIS COMING YEAR?
It is a door,
By which we reach new fields
Of service for our God and
fellow
man:
A door by which we can
Explore
Wide spheres of usefulness
Our world to bless;
And reap the sheaves God’s
Word
of
witness yields.
It is a task
Set by the Master of our
souls,
A little part of our life’s
work:
And so we ask
The holy wisdom, which alone
controls
Our labor, teaching
what and
where to sow:
That the year, at its
end,
May show God’s glory
and man’s
profit blend.
It is a book,
With many pages and as
yet all
white,
On which to write
The history of thought,
and deed,
and word
In this new group of days.
We pray Thee, Lord,
As Thou shalt look
Upon the book, when written
o’er,
may all be to Thy praise.
- William Olney.

THE
BEGINNING, GOD
Key Note
Gen. 1-1
Another year has ended,
For some it is the last;
Whatever be its record,
We
cannot change the past.
But stretching out before us
The New Year lieth fair;
God help us to be
careful
What shall be written there.
“But
this
one thing I do. I press toward the mark for the prize of the
high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”
- Phil. 3,
13-14.

We
left Oicha for home right after breakfast but did shopping
in Beni.

other
things. Got here by 3. Mr. Peck drives up. Stanley couldn’t
get
his car yet nor I my battery. Have to go again.
Thur.
Nov. 1
I
do get the days mixed up. Today was very pleasant. sunny tho
a
shower abt 4 P.M. Masikini didn’t come for supper so we were
late. Pecks were busy til 5:30 or so. Now they are pretty
well packed. Want to get off early.
Fri.
Nov. 2
Pecks
left after early breakfast. Had quite a shauri just before
pr mtg.
15 boys complained because Stanley pulled down their
tumbledown
house. Later S. said he’d build another - but they have
left. Put
the pine apple to dry - seems very nice. Writing at
Christmas
letters.
Sat.
Nov. 3
How
disturbed we were last yr. and we never have found the thief
nor the
shoes. Dr. Stephens came today & brot note from Manns.
They
want to come Mon. I said OK. We will clean later.
Sun
Nov. 4
Quiet
day somewhat. Folks ate dinner & supper here. Services
as
usual. After supper sat & talked after news. Now it’s
after 9

Must
get one off to Lora.
Mon.
Nov. 5
Looked
for Manns for dinner & the table is still set but they
haven’t
